Ryan Worl has a wealth of knowledge on observability from his experiences building a search and analytics system at DataDog and building a bring-your-own-cloud deployment model at Warpstream by Confluent.
In his talk at BugBash, Ryan opened his bag of tricks for “doing observability the right way.” Adding assertions that run in production without taking down whole regions. Logs that are structured, standardized, and packed with context. Metrics that illuminate what matters instead of just filling graphs.
It’s a candid, practical and meaningful way of building systems that are self-describing, making observability a backbone of software quality and reliability.
